BIO

Youthless was founded in July 2006 when Pentothal decided to realize a free magazine including musical interviews, covers drawn by different artists each month, a column dedicated to personal thoughts, a review about old movies, a section dedicated to record labels, booking agencies, radios and a leading article.
Pentothal had the idea to start a magazine since 2005, but no one seemed interested to be a part of the project.
So, after a thoughtful year, one day of July he published the zero issue in A4 format, using just an old computer with a common writing program, because at that time he didn’t know anything about graphic.

The name Youthless has, with no doubts, a variety of meanings. To feel tired and demotivated, like a social critic to us and people around us, because people always complain without doing nothing.

Furthermore Pentothal thought so many times to the choice of that name, because in list there was also “Open Ears” and he didn’t know which one was better. In the end he took the decision and he published the first version using the name that everyone knows.

To shut all these anecdotes, YOUTHLESS is also a Beck’s song and the title of a poetry fanzine that Beck wrote when he was a child (only poetry, nothing concerning music or interviews).
We hope that one day Beck sues us for ungranting use about the name Youthless and in this way could help us to be known. (this is a joke)

The main idea about Youthless world is to place side by side new music regarding Italian bands and foreign as well, involving well known artists as unknown at the same time.

Each month Youthless publishes a new Italian issue that’s distribuited for free in our city (Reggio Emilia) while for the English issue (ITA/ENG) including a 7 inch vinyl (LMTD edition) the publishing is set every six months at this time.

Going on with Youthless story, in the first issue (now out of print) Pentothal interviewed some Italian bands including Ipekacuana and he found his future members of team and in a short time partners in crime.
Welcome to Belladonna and The 3rd Man Behind The Graphic.

Without knowing each other, three guys started to go out together, talking about fanzine, writing together, eating together and going out to see gigs. In that way started a long time friendship.
Belladonna introduced the short stories column for new writers as well the philosophical corner with our freelance Philosopher.
Belladonna changed the name of some columns with Where is my mind?, Calamaio and more.
Right now Belladonna is looking for someone who could write about art, so don’t be shy…
Instead our graphic designer has created his own vision of the Youthless world, thinking to his personal meaning of Youth(less) in a recognizable way. It means that our magazine is not focused only on the articles that we write but, with the help of The Third Man, you could also have a taste and a look to the visual content as well. Furthermore The 3rd man works on flyers, posters and visual content.

Youthless family has became bigger and bigger during these years, publishing new columns and stuff with the help of Philosopher (mentioned above), Miss Cassady with reviews/short stories about gigs, Raperonzolo for social topic, Boss Hog for independent movies, Clementine and Giulia B. for the translation, Ema on sales and we are sure that a lot of new minds will start to gravitate on our Universe.

Columns are:

COVER: made by different artists (graphic designers, comic-strip artists, painters) chosen by our team.
WAKE UP : It’s the leading article written by Penthotal as tradition.
SCHIZOFONICI : interviews regarding new bands from Italy.
FISHING FROM THE NET : interviews to foreign bands (UK, US, Australia and more).
WHERE IS MY MIND? : personal thoughts of Penthotal and Belladonna.
OTHER STUFF : interviews about record labels, actors, booking agencies, publishing houses, radios and more.
TOUR DIARY : It’s a diary that Youthless gives to the musicians on tour so they can write about life on tour. Afterward Youthless publishes it. This column is not available each month. It depends on bands on tour.
DEAD OR (A)LIVE : a particular mix like a short story about live reviews written by our freelance Miss Cassady.
FILOSOFIO : a discussing page about philosophy written by Philosopher.
CALAMAIO : unpublished work by writers.
IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE : a girly page made by Raperonzolo.
BOBINA : an introduction to the old movies that has changed this artistic field, according to our tastes and with the wonderful help of Boss Hog.

On 29th February 2008 we created our “Manifesto YOUTHLESSista” an ironic list of the concepts behind Youthless that, taking as an example those written by the avant-garde of the early 20th century, sets forward our key points.
